WHO WE ARE

Although our team is large and diverse, the beating heart of L’AB STUDIO is represented by our founder and owner, Barbara Sembianti, supported by her two irreplaceable right and left arms, who together guide each project with passion and competence.

The Ensō, the Japanese Zen circle, is the symbol that inspires me because it symbolizes enlightenment, infinity and the absolute universe. This symbol, which represents both totality and emptiness, guides me as an architect to create spaces that reflect the balance between simplicity and complexity, harmony and imperfection. The Ensō is not just a symbol, but a meditative process that requires presence and awareness, where every brush stroke is unique and unrepeatable, just like every architectural project. It constantly reminds me that true perfection lies in the acceptance of imperfections and that every space created must resonate with the soul of those who live in it. Integrating nature and human essence into a single architectural vision is my goal, and the Ensō perfectly embodies this philosophy, recalling the alchemical principles of transformation and perfection, where every project becomes a work in continuous evolution towards its ideal form.

I perceive the symbolism of the equilateral triangle as very similar to me, since it represents harmony. With its three equal angles and sides and facing upwards, it figuratively represents fire, fire that burns for ideas, fire that, fueled by air, is pushed upwards and is pushed beyond material and intellectual boundaries. As an architect, I feel the triangle and its meaning are closely connected to the natural elaboration and creation of a project. Personally, thanks to the fuel empathy towards the ideas and desires of the client, I feel what the triangle represents as an essential part of the success of a project. This symbol also recalls the alchemical principles of transformation and evolution, where each project follows the process of continuous evolution towards the ideal form.

The symbol that accompanies me is the square because it embodies stability, solidity and order. The shape of the square may seem simple and banal, but in reality it contains a hidden complexity. It can recall a window that opens onto new horizons, a table around which people gather, or a solid foundation on which to build something great. As an architect, it inspires me to create spaces that reflect these qualities, designing structures that are in balance between functionality and visual harmony. This symbol also recalls the alchemical principles of balance and perfection, where each project becomes concrete, stable, material but also versatile.

This symbol represents me as a graphic designer because it expresses my creative and personal approach to design. The curved brushstrokes convey movement and freedom, reflecting my ability to adapt and leave room for inspiration.
The imperfect texture of the brushstrokes speaks to my authentic style, which doesn’t conform to rigid rules but always seeks a unique and personal expression. The open shape of the symbol represents my ongoing growth and my desire to explore new ideas and solutions. This symbol is not just a graphic element but an extension of who I am as a creative: a balance of technique, intuition, and the drive to leave my mark.
